Anarchie in Adformatie

Voor Anarchie nodigt de redactie van Adformatie elke keer een andere gastredacteur uit: een veelbelovende jonge creatief, een inspirerende topcreatief, een bladenmaker, kunstenaar, schrijver, designer et cetera. Nationaal of internationaal.
Why is it anarchy?
Because we are destroying "lemon", arguably the most famous ad DDB ever did or will do.
Or the most famous ad ever for that matter. No ad will have the impact this one had back in the 60's. Taking advertising to a new level. In the dictionary it says: political and social disorder due to the absence of governmental control: The death of the king was followed by a year of anarchy. The king is Bill Bernbach of course. Old dies for New. Which is Life. What could be more anarchistic than to destroy the ad that we are known for.
Sometimes agencies are too structured because of years and years trying to perfect the system and correcting the wrongs. Which leads to the death of a creative culture. What we are currently trying to do at DDB NY is to try and rock the boat a bit. See if the establishment notices, fully being aware that there could be consequences attached to it. But we rather go through our day doing the things we love and believe in than sit there and try not to be noticed and just collect a pay check. Life is too short to be mediocre.
The butterfly is a bit more indirect. Again we wanted to communicate something we believe in. With a little bit of anarchy mixed in. Anarchy is going against the grain. Destroying things that are considered perfectly fine. Who doesn’t like butterflies? Butterflies don’t harm anyone and are probably universally liked. So what better canvas to make our point. Grafitti style typography or something so pure and natural is a stronger point to make then to just tag something on an abandoned wall.
